📖 Story: The Vowel Family and Consonant Friends
In Alphabet Land, there lived two special groups of friends! 👨👩👧👦
The Vowel Family was small but very important. There were only 5 members:
- A - The happy letter who always says “ay!”
- E - The energetic letter who says “ee!”
- I - The intelligent letter who says “eye!”
- O - The round letter who says “oh!”
- U - The unique letter who says “yoo!”
The Vowel Family was special because EVERY word in English needs at least one vowel! Without them, we couldn’t make words!
The Consonant Friends were the bigger group with 21 members. They loved to play with the vowels to make words!
Some consonant friends are:
- B loves to bounce like a ball!
- C curls up like a cat!
- D dances with dogs!
- F swims with fish!
When vowels and consonants work together, they make beautiful words like:
- A + P + P + L + E = APPLE 🍎
- C + A + T = CAT 🐱
- D + O + G = DOG 🐶
They all live happily ever after in Word Village! 🏡
📚 Understanding Vowels and Consonants
What are Vowels? 🔵
Vowels are special letters that make open sounds. Your mouth is open when you say them!
The 5 Vowels:

What are Consonants? 🟢
Consonants are letters that make closed or partially closed sounds. Your lips or tongue block the air!
Common Consonants:

Special Letters
Y is special! Sometimes it acts like a vowel!
- In “Yes” - Y is a consonant
- In “Happy” - Y acts like a vowel!
